Personnellement j'ai tendance à favoriser l'efficacité : à partir du moment où l'on passe le plus clair de son temps à lire des informations sur un écran plutôt que sur papier, l'approche de Apple ne semble pas être la plus judicieuse, surtout pour les yeux de l'utilisateur. 
Pour résumer la chose de façon métaphorique : je préfère le produit discount qui rempli mes besoins, au produit de luxe qui ne sert qu'à se faire mousser ; chacun ses goûts, après tout je suis informaticien, pas artiste, pas snob, ou je ne sais trop quoi... le reste, c'est de la poudre (qui fait mal) aux yeux.

Ben vaut mieux, sans quoi ça pourrait bien s'apparenter à une forme de masochisme.
J'ajouterai aussi en tant qu'utilisateur de GNU/Linux que je préfère le système GNU/Linux, et ceci, sans aucun fanboyisme primaire. Ça reflète le fait que les utilisateurs ont tout simplement la liberté de choisir le style ou le look qu'ils préfèrent (l'anti-aliasing _et_ la méthode de rendu sous-pixel sont ajustables selon les goûts, habitudes et matériel de chacun).
