Since our founding days, we have believed that the battery based electric propulsion system is the way to go for the future of aircraft. The battery development over the past years is astonishing and we believe that this will unlock even larger aircraft with higher payload and range over the next 10 years compared to the maturity of hydrogen for aviation.

So we’re targeting commercial launch in Florida in ~2024 as our first US regional network, in partnership with Tavistock and Ferrovial who will be building and operating our vertiports. Florida currently has limited intra-state, city-to-city flight high-speed connections – with over 100 million visitors a year and the fourth largest GDP in the US, we believe that we would be able to make a strong, immediate impact there. We expect to start with 4 vertiports at launch and then expand to a network of 14 locations across Florida - using over 100 Lilium jets eventually to serve them. We are of course looking closely at routes and commercial partnerships in a number of other US regions such as the Northeast, California, Texas, etc.
